Design Challenges

This is a collection of UI design challenges that I've completed. More to come soon.

Prompt 1

Design a music app that allows the user to browse popular music and add content to their playlist.

My Solution

What would you do if you had more time?

If I had more time to work on this project then I would focus on developing the information architecture and conduct user research to find out what features are most important to music app users.

Prompt 2

Design a product for someone who has difficulty interacting socially with other individuals that helps them to make money as a freelancer.

Can you explain your approach?

I decided to create a website that Introverted people who prefer to work from home could use to find freelance clients. I also wanted to focus on making the site easy to use and understand.

My Solution

Elancer

What would you do if you had more time?

If I had more time I'd start ideating on a "find your client" search page with filters available for users to narrow down their ideal client. I would also polish the alignment of elements.

Prompt 3

Design an interactive map that prospective land developers can use to gain insight about what can be built on a site and the zoning rules they need to be aware of.

What Design Principles were important for this project?

Immediate Intuition

I tried to design an experience that is easy to understand and use at first glance for users. â€‹

Irreducible Simplicity

Not overwhelming users with feature overload is important, so I've given users the option to collapse/hide widgets on the screen. That way they can customize their experience and conserve screen real estate.

My Solution

What are some next steps you would consider in order to improve this project?

1.) I would create a glossary for users that they can access to get clarity on industry jargon and acronyms. â€‹

2.) Getting the opportunity to conduct thorough research with current product users/prospective users would help me learn what features are important to them. Then I could use that valuable feedback to simplify the GIS Map tool by removing features that aren't in demand by users. â€‹
